Level Sensing
Level detection is a very common requirement - and there are a number of ways you can check the level of a tank (or other vessel). Which method you choose depends mainly on what type of media is in your vessel, as well as how accurate an indication you need.
Note that most level sensors will pick up exactly that - the level in the tank. It is possible to output the volume in your vessel, but this may require you to alter your signal.
For example, let's look at filling a round ball with water. To raise the water level by 1" only takes a small amount when the ball is empty, since the walls are so close. But when the ball is already half full, raising it by an inch takes a great deal more water, as the walls here are at their greatest distance apart.
In the same way, you need to consider the shape of your tank if you wish to output volume. EJX industrial pressure transmitters already have custom-curve functions that allow you to change your output in this way.
